Strange but there is something that touches me with that fishmarket in the center of Marseille. Probably it is the fact that it is on the same time so real (fresh fish that gets taken out of the net he is catched with) and artificial/surreal (in a chic-shiny and clean “old harbour” that looks like a yacht-marina).

Tous Benevoles- alles Freiwillige

Because little business houses got destroyed you can finally see Gezi-Park which was never very visible from Taxim. And the whole Taxim without cars is great that should stay like that. This was actually the most intense work of art during the istanbul biennale...

And if you take the Bus from the Atatürk Airport in Istanbul to Taxim this is where you arrive. A huge tunnel crossing the hills of Pera without any respect to people living above or nearby. The upper left U-shaped house is an extraordinary example of a well planned house to live with a little courtyard and a tree. it was always a hidden and quiet place. This is gone now with the big street in front.

Tuesday, 25th of June 2013

There are a lot of these urban renovation areas (ANRU-National Agency for urban renovation) in France. For me it is always very strange that these programms have to demolish in the areas they work in. It seems impossible to transform situations by working with the existing situations.
Saturday, 15th of June 2013
In the last 100 years, La Cayolle was the corner of Marseille marked by dirty industry (La Soude), the prison (Les Baumettes) and a camp for different migrants (Le Camp de Grand Arena). Except for the prison, this history is almost invisible today. New planning tries to erase the social housing which was built after the camp for new middle class appartments. Sometimes, it seems like the new Parc de Calanques (decision was made in Feb. 2012!) is used as an argument that helps to transform the area. Probably that is why we always got to hear the following: „Le Parc National n’est jamais venu chez nous. The National Parc never cared about us, or „talked with us“).

Until recently she discovered in her mind that this was probably the cheapest way to make shure that during the summer holidays the homes didn’t get bulgarized.

Saturday, 15th of June 2013
Ok you may say that this happened several times in the art world in the last ten years. There is even artists that put a 1:1 copy of the original Hollywood sign in a remote valley in Sicilly and organise flights to move in all the art crowd (M.Catelan).
The big diffrence with the Cayollywood-sign is that it is brought up for one hour by the participants of the place that we created. It turned out to be the second action (after the „pierre tombeé“) that made inhabitants proud of beeing from La Cayolle and having objects that act for their imagination and identification with the place.

For me this is the real image of the day: For the first time we had a kid of normality that the women, who cooked lunch for us, just stayed until Nicole and I (and lots of others) cooked dinner for them. It turned out that a „MAMA-house“ is missing in La Cayolle. More and more the CHEZ TOI-Bar du Rond-Point filled this gap.

How to connect an art project at the border of Marseille with the people living there? A year ago we got told that some of the people working in Leclerc still get their monthly income cheque even if they are in Baumettes (the prison that is just a kilometer away). People say that is "acheter paix social" (buying social peace). Sometimes I wonder if - without wanting it - the "quarter creativ" of the cultural capital MP2013 could be missunderstood in the same way?

The next sculpture will be a stone with a rectangular hole. It will weight with ist concrete basement more than six tons.
